Discovery of Art
Discovery of art is a one semester course that has 2 distinct parts. The first quarter is spent learning about art as a discipline, including terminology, becoming familiar with the elements and principles of art, learning about a variety of art media, and art criticism. Grades for the 1st quarter are determined by assessments including quizzes and tests and projects that are relevant to current studies.
The 2nd quarter is a basic drawing course. Students will work through exercises designed to give them practice in representing objects accurately on paper. Students will each be given sketchbooks and homework will consist of nightly drawings of objects. Grades will be determined by student effort and personal improvement.
